Hi everybody! Welcome to Bladeworx. We can sharpen most bladed instruments, including knives, mower blades, and hatchets. Let us know if you have any questions about our services.
We can pick up your items in Levy County, or you may drop them off at our Williston, Florida location.
Kitchen knives dull over time. You may not even notice it. You just get used to how they cut. It may never even enter your mind until maybe by chance you try cutting that apple with a dull knife and you think, “I know this knife used to cut much better!”
We sharpen pocketknives having everything from standard Buck 440 HC to the latest exotic powdered metal "super steels."
Serrated knives take a little more time to sharpen than your average straight blade. We have that kind of time!
Unlike most knives' razor edge, mower blades need to be sharpened to between 30 and 45 degrees for a longer-lasting edge, approximately every 10-12 hours of use.
An axe is not a straight consistent wedge. The angle of thickness is different as you move up the axe bit. Most axes have a 30-40 degree angle at the end of the bit and a 15-20 degree angle about ½” from the cutting edge. The bulge away from the end of the bit is what provides the axe its splitting power.
Like knives, scissors have varying angles, from 0 degree (such as children’s safety scissors) to 25 degrees (such as delicate specialty kitchen scissors). The typical scissor blade angle will be somewhere between 40-45 degrees.
You should clean and sharpen all your garden tools at least once a year, at the end or beginning of the gardening season. Pruners that see extra-hard use will probably need it more often. A multi-purpose diamond file works well. Using a power bench grinder to sharpen a pair of hand pruners is usually not a good idea, as the grindstones are too coarse to put a good, sharp edge on the small blades.
We sharpen fixed blades to the standard factory angle, or can customize sharpness to your desired specifications.
